Full Description

SU 29:
Measuring 17.75 x 8 metres this blackhouse is orientated from north to south. It is constructed from stone with an earth core, has square ends and has opposing entrances towards the north end of its west and east walls. Later walls create a smaller internal room within this house, these are constructed at the north end and 8.75 metres from the south end. A stone terrace creates a low step 6.75 metres long along the east face of the building starting at its southern end.
Interpretation: This building exhibits signs of being earlier in date than blackhouse SU 28, having opposing entrances and square ends. It appears to have been systematically dismantled possibly to provide stone for blackhouse SU 31, and later has had two walls constructed within its length to form a small room, possibly for use as an ancillary structure or barn.
