Full Description

SU 37:
Running from west to east the fragmentary remains of this turf dyke strart at NF 78763 15118 and run to the east for 13.5 metres to NF 78777 15116 before being broken by a peat cutting. To the east the dyke starts again at NF 78784 15112 and runs in a east south-easterly direction for 20 metres before turning at NF 78804 15108 and running in a east north-eastern direction for 5 metres to NF 78808 15110 where its course ends out. Further to the east a small section of the same dyke can be seen running for 11 metres between NF 78824 15116 and NF 78833 15121. This feature is formed entirely of turf and, when seen in section sits slightly below the modern pest surface suggesting it is at least of medieval date, and possibly is earlier that dating back into late prehistory.
Interpretation: This feature is formed entirely of turf and, when seen in section sits slightly below the modern peat surface suggesting it is at least of medieval date, and possibly is earlier that dating back into late prehistory. Its source cannot be related to any of the extantlater medieval and post medieval field system identified (SU 45/ 52 and 38 etc.) suggesting that it marks the fragmentary remains of a disused boundary.
