Full Description

SU 39:
Constructed primarily of turf re-enforced occasionally with stone this dyke runs along the east to west ridge that seperates Baile C and B. Starting adjacent to the westerly head dyke, SU 45, at NF 78547 15155 it runs for 51.5 metres in a southerly direction to NF 78557 15106 where it turns and runs for 396 metres in an easterly direction to NF 78951 15079. 45 metres to the east the fragmentary remains of the same dyke can be seen to run for a further 66 metres between NF 78994 15077 to NF 79023 15075.
Interpretation: This dyke is one of nine including SU 67, 73, 107, 151, 164, 177 identified running radially from the head dyke (SU 45/ 52) forming larger infields or areas of cultivation land around the Bailes of medieval/ post medieval settlement identified. This dyke seperates Baile B to the north from Baile C to the south.
