Full Description

SU 41:
Situated between two massive erratics 26 metres apart and each measuring 50 metres in diameter and up to 3 metres in height, the dismantled remains of this stone and earth cored house survive as a basal course of orthostats. The houses measures 17.5 metres from south-west to north-east and 7.6 metres from north-west to south-east. This house has opposing entrances near the south-western ends of the north-west and south-east walls. It has a slightly apsoidal end to the north-east. Internally the house is to constructed directly on to bed rock at its north-east (dwelling) end. Half way along the inner face of the north-westerly wall a small secondary cell has been constructed measuring 1.5 metres in radius. A small terrace runs parallel to the south-east wall forming a step in front of the entrance some 7.5 metres in length.
Interpretation: This house appears to have largely been dismantled to provide stone for a later structure, possibly house SU 49 to the south east. It is sited to take shelter in the eastern lee of the large erratic located immediately to the west and forms part of Baile C with SU 42 and 49.
