Full Description

SU 57:
The fragmentary remains of this house are orientated from south-west to north-east and measure 12 x 6.7 metres. It has been systematically dismantled leaving little stones visible, the walls are defined by collapsed dumps of wall core. While a single entrance can be defined near the centre of the south-east wall, it is possible that a second entrance remained obscured underneath collapsed wall core. The structure is constructed to take advantage of shelter provided by north-east facing bedrock cliffs. A small stretch of stone and earth wall reinforces this blocking the only crevice in the bedrock outcrop.
Interpretation: This house has been systematically dismantled to provide building materials for another structure. This is likely to be one of the other houses in Baile C/ D, probably SU 64/ 65 located immediately to the south.
