Full Description

SU 92:
Running from north to south this is the furthest extent of the head dyke SU 45/ 52/ 84 recorded on the west side of the survey area. It is a short stretch of walling running for 9.2 metres from NF 77891 14568 in the south to NF 77895 14579 in the north, linking two areas of bedrock outcrop. This stretch of walling , consisting of turf and stone, is mirrored less than a metre to the west by a second line of orthostats marking the line of an earlier wall crossing the same opening between cliff faces.
Interpretation: This double line of walling shows the capacity for such head dyke features to be heavily re-worked while maintaining the same basic line.
