Full Description
SU 93:
Located immediately to the south of cultivation SU 87, this drying barn is orientated from east north - east to west south-west and measures 7.5 x 5.4 metres. It is constructed of stone with an earth core and has a single entrance towars the east end of the southern wall. Internally there is a substantial orthostatic step at the west end of the structure. Located on the south side of this step is a kiln bowl measuring 0.8 metres in diameter. A flue can be seen curving through the step first to the north and then to the east and exiting it against the north wall of the barn.
Interpretation: This drying barn appears to be part of a dispersed nucleus settlement, Baile F. It is remarkably well preserved, though it is likely that the flue continued from the step in an easterly direction along the northern wall and was constructed of stone slabs. These have either collapsed or have been removed.
