Full Description

SU 99:
Running from north to south the remains of this stone dyke are visible for 6.9 metres in a peat cutting, between NF 79061 14550 in the north and NF 79061 14543 in the south.
Interpretation: This feature is buried in the peat, between 0.2 and 0.5 metres below the present surface, and a similar distance above the base of the section, and represents the remains of a field boundary or enclosure that predates much of the field system recorded in the evaluation area. Given its situation in the peat strata it could date to any period between the Bronze Age and the early medieval depending on the localised speed of peat growth.
