Full Description

SU 100:
Measuring 7.4 x 4.7 metres this small turf and stone structure is orientated from north-west to south-east and has a single entrance in the centre of its north-east wall.
Interpretation: The construction of this building is more substantial than that of other barns having walls of up to 1 metre thick and orthostats along its east side. Two interpretations might be drawn, firstly that this represents the barn associated with a high status house (SU 101). Alternatively if SU 101 were to be considered to be an early church then this structure might represent the residence of the incumbent monk or priest.
