Full Description

SU 126:
This turf dyke runs from NF 78577 14386 for 52 metres down hill to the south-east to NF 78611 14346 where it terminates at a drainage ditch cut around the north side of enclosure SU 137. Further to the south-east this dyke continues as SU 151. While it might be expected that this dyke should contiue on the north side of the modern road running north to the head dyke (SU 84) no sign of it could be discerned to the north side of the road.
Interpretation: The relationship between SU 137 and this dyke suggests that this feature pre-dates the irregular enclosure (SU 127/ 137) which appears to have been formed to demarcate a large area of boggy peat cuttings
