Full Description

SU 127:
This fragmentary dyke forms the eastern end of enclosure SU 137. Starting at NF 78681 14365 the dyke running to the south of a ditch runs to the north-east for 46 metres to NF 78717 14395 where the ditch continues north-east and the dyke turns and runs to the south-east for 47 metres and terminates. 11 metres to the north-west of this terminus at NF 78744 14374 a wall runs to the south for 32 metres to NF 78746 14339 where it joins the main southern part of the enclosure SU 137.
Interpretation: This enclosure, 9036 square metres, shows extensive signs of having been re-aligned and reconstructed on several occasions. It does however clearly overlie the wider radial field system. This section (SU 127) forms the eastern end of the enclosure and shows that its purpose is to enclose a large area of boggy peat cutting. Ditches on the north side continue to the east keeping this area drained.
