SU 169:
Located to the east of house SU 168, this barn is constructed of stone with earthen cores and is orientated from west to east. It measures 8.6 x 5.9 metres and has a single entrance in the centre of its southern wall. Internally there is a platform, formed by orthostatic stones, towards the structures east end. This platform has a centrally locate flue running to a kiln bowl measuring 1.1 metres in diameter.
Interpretation: This structure along with house SU 168 and yard SU 166 forms the classic grouping of pre-crofting agricultural buildings, formed of a house with a byre, a barn/ drying barn and a yard.
