Full Description

SU 175:
This turf dyke splits from dyke SU 140/ 177 at NF 78508 14257 and runs in a south south-westerly direction for 192 metres to the shore at NF 78500 14060. Its line is lost for 40 metres between NF 78513 14242 and NF 78517 14210 by peat cutting activity.
Interpretation: This dyke forms a small triangular coastal enclosure with SU 177 covering ca 15100 square metres. One structure, a poly-cellular building, SU 179, is located within this enclosure. The purpose of this wall is unclear. It may be that it and SU 177 represent some change or progression in the field system, however this could not be defined from their junction. Alternatively they could be positioned to form an enclosure sued for agricultural purposes, either arable or pastoral.
