Full Description

E 219:
Located entirely within a modern fenced enclosure, this area of feannagan forms two fields divided by a turf dyke running from north to south for 28 metres between NF 78594 12236 and NF 78598 12207. The western field has feannagan running from west to east and covers 1450 square metres. The eastern field also has feannagan running from west to east and covers 560 square metres. Both are bounded to the north by sea cliffs, the eastern field is also bounded to the east by the same cliffs and both are bounded to the south by a stone and turf dyke running from west to east for 58 metres from NF 78549 12195 to NF 78607 12211.
Interpretation: While the rigs in this field seem to be early in form the fact they are enclosed in a later crofting wire fence enclosure at least suggests some continuation of usage post apportionment. This issue is generally clouded on Eriskay as no croft boundaries have been permanently marked in the townships of Rhuban and Haun.
