Full Description

E 224:
Located immediately to the east of cultivation E 223, this irregular area of cultivation has feannagan running for the most part from north to south and covers an area of 903 square metres measuring 14.5 x 84 metres. These rigs are positioned to take advantage of the shelter provided by this small valley and wind around a large bedrock dome or knoll located in the centre of its floor at NF 78491 12185.
Interpretation: Much of this area of rigging falls within the extents of a recent wire fenced enclosure. This enclosure is marked on the modern Ordnance Survey map. However the extent of the site to the east does not respect this enclosure suggesting that in general it pre-dates its definition.
