Full Description

E 242:
This late stone and mortar 'blackhouse' is orientated from north to south and has a single entrance in the centre of its eastern wall. It is rectangular and measures 12..8 x 6.5 metres. Situated immediately to the south is the remains of an ancillary structure, E 244, of similar construction.
Interpretation: This house is of very late design being almost perfectly recangular and having a central entrance possibly flanked by two small windows. Patches of the wall faces are bonded with mortar though some used is also still made of earth in the wall cores.
