Full Description

E 243:
Situated immediately above the high water line on the west side of Haun Harbour, the remains of this turf and stone blackhouse are orientated from north to south and measure 12.6 x 6.5 metres. This house has apsoidal ends and opposing entrance towards the northern end of the east and west walls. Internally the remains of possible partition may be seen on the west side of the house 7 metres from the northern end.
Interpretation: This house is located extremely close to the bay at Haun. Its form is that of an earlier pre-crofting house, though its position may suggest an industrial function, such as smoking fish, that this house could have performed.
Impact Detail: This house fall on the line of the approach road for the causeway.
