Full Description

E 249:
Two dykes situated 58 metres apart on the slopes of Ben Scrien to the south of Haun follow the edges of a low valley forming a tapering funnel narrowing towards the north. The western wall runs from north to south for 27 metres from NF 78923 11617 to NF 78916 11591. The eastern wall runs from north-west to south-east for 23 metres from NF 78976 11627 to NF 78997 11615.
Interpretation: This pair of walls forms a fragment of field system, possibly associated with the clearance cairns located to the south (E 250). It has been suggested that some of the field systems in this general vicinity may be Norse in date, however at the same time of survey no evidence to either support or refute this was noted.
