Full Description

EF 24
This blackhouse belongs to the settlement of Coilleag.
Impact Description: not given by Babtie Group.
(Babtie Group, 1999)
E 276:
This blackhouse measures 5.4 x 9.75 metres and is orientated from west north-west to east south-east. The walls stand up to 1.75 metres high and are mostly intact with turf packing. It comprises a doorway in the south-western wall, as well as two windows in the same wall. The house also has a fireplace in its south-eastern wall. It was erected on relatively flat ground and stands within 9 - 10 metres of house E 277.
Interpretation: This house seems fairly recent, because of the height of the walls and the fireplace at one gable-end. It probably dates to the Post Medieval or Crofting period.
