Full Description

E 262:
This blackhouse is fairly large, 5.5 x 12.5 metres and is orientated from south south-west to north north-east. The wall stands 0.5 - 0.75 metres high. The doorway is on the southern half of the south-eastern wall and internal small divisions (two short walls) are in the southern corner of the house. The house is situated at the base of a steep cliff, approximately 20 metres north of E 261. Associated with this partly dismantled blackhouse is an ancillary wall starting at the south-west corner of the house and continuing in an north-westerly direction for some 15 metres. Then it cuves round to run in an northerly direction for about 5 metres until it terminates at a right angle on the steep cliff.
Interpretation: This blackhouse belongs to a smaller group of houses west to Heisinish.
