Full Description

E 289:
This dyke is running from west to east with a slight curve for 20 metres. It is 20 - 40 cm high, 50 - 60 cm wide and the stones, of which it is made, are mostly covered with turf and long grass. It is situated very near (4 - 5 metres) to the modern road from Balla to Coilleag.
Interpretation: The purpose of this dyke is unknown. Probably it once formed a field boundary (note the proximity of cultivation area E 290). Its heavily overgrown status suggests a rather early,Medieval, date, but it could have been used until Crofting period.
