Full Description

E 295:
The walls of this blackhouse are not very well preserved, they stand between 50 and 90 cm high, are partly collapsed and covered with turf and 70 cm thick. This rectangular building measures 5.9 x 11.2 metres, the doorway is in the centre of its northern side.
Half a metre to the western side of the house an ancillary much smaller building visible. It measures 4.2 x 5.9 metres and has an entrance on the north-east corner of its northern side.
Both buildings are situated on a platform overlooking the lower land and parts of the beach. Very nice view!
Interpretation: The two buildings are contemporary. The height and state of the walls confirm that. The single entrance in the centre of a long wall suggests a later, Post Medieval, date. This house has obviously been robbed since!
