Full Description

E 314:
This blackhouse is situated on a plateau near the coastline. It is orientated from north to south and measures 6 x 10 metres. The walls of this house are quite low (50 - 90 cm) partly collapsed and mostly covered with turf. A single doorway is visible in the centre of the east wall.
Interpretation: This blackhouse probably dates to late Medieval or early Post Medieval time. The single entrance and the size of the house suggests a later date, while the bad condition of the walls could indicate an earlier date. Another possibility could be that the stones of this house have been robbed and consequently the walls do not survive completely.
