Full Description

E 333:
This blackhouse is situated on a platform near to the coastline, overlooking a small bay. Its dimensions are 9 x 4 metres and the walls stand up to 1 metre high but mostly less, they are partly collapsed and turfed over. It is orientated from south-west to north-east and has an entrance in the southern half of its western long side.
A wall is attached to the house, it starts at its northern corner and runs for 7 metres in a north north-westerly direction. The height of this wall is definitely lower than that of the house, it is partly collapsed, too.
Interpretation: This building dates probably to Medieval times, because it is rather small and the doorway is not in the centre of the wall. The purpose of the attached wall is unknown, but it could have been used in connection with stock management.
