Full Description

E 341:
This rectangular shaped blackhouse is situated on a platform overlooking the lower land and the sea, Calvay and across to South Uist. It measures 6.5 x 10.5 metres and the walls stand approximately 1.3 metres high and at some places mortar is visible. The walls are not turfed over, but partly collapsed. There is a small window in the eastern wall and the entrance is located in the centre of the northern long wall. The house is orientated from west to east.
Interpretation: This blackhouse dates probably to Post Medieval or even Crofting times. The use of mortar suggests such a late date, along with the entrance to the house, located in the centre of a long wall, and the small window.
