Full Description

E 367:
This blackhouse measures 7 x 12 metres, its double-walls are standing up to 2.1 metres high and are slightly bending inwards. The corners are rounded and mortar was also used. A doorway in the centre and two windows on each side of the door are located in the western long wall. Another window can be found in the centre of the back wall of the house. A chimney is placed at each gable end of the building. The house is situated on a platform overlooking the small bay to the north and in a distance South Uist is visible. It stands on the southern side of the path and 30 metres south of house E 368. The house is now used as an unroofed storage room for tires, wood etc. The surrounding vegetation is short grass.
Interpretation: This blackhouse dates most likely to the Post Medieval, or even Crofting period. The location of the door and the windows as well as the chimneys and the use of mortar support this late date.
