Full Description

E 375:
This house is connected with an enclosure. Both structures are situated on a faint slope, overlooking the small bay and the Sound of Eriskay. The house measures 5 x 6 metres and the walls stand up to 1.6 metres high, but are partly collapsed. The use of mortar is visible at some places. The house is orientated from west to east, an entrance is to be seen in the western wall. The attached enclosure uses the northern wall of the house as its southern end (11 metres), the enclosure has an unregular shape and stretches for 21 metres in a northerly direction. Its wall is much lower (just 70 cm) than that of the house and is mostly covered with turf.
Interpretation: These structures are probably to be seen as a storage room or shelter for sheep, and an attached enclosure, which was probably also used for stock management.
