Full Description

E 380:
This house measures 6.3 x 9.3 metres and is orientated from north-west to south-east. A doorway and two windows on each side of the doorway are located on the south-western long wall. The walls stand up to 1.7 metres high (sometimes lower) and are partly covered with turf. They have rounded corners, and mortar is visible at some places. To the south-east there is a adjoining structure located. It is as wide as the house and 2.7 metres long. A small entrance is located at its western corner. A recent roof, made of nets and turf covers the side structure. The house is situated 80 metres north of a small bay of Acairseid Mohr.
Interpretation: This building and side structure probably date into Post Medieval or Crofting times. The doorway and the two windows as well as the use of mortar support that date. The side structure was probably used as a storage room. Today it is still used as a storage room for fishing equipment.
