Full Description

E 392:
This blackhouse measures 14 metres in length, while the western short wall measures 4.8 metres and the eastern short wall 5.8 metres. The walls stand up to 1.4 metres high, but are partly collapsed and turfed over. The corners are rounded. The doorway is located in the eastern half of the southern long wall. The house stands just 1.5 metres to the west of house E 391. Both are located on a faint slope near to the shore of Acairseid Mhor. 11 metres to the west another house is located (E 393).
Interpretation: This blackhouse is quite big and has short wall of different length. The location of the door suggests a Medieval date, although the size of the house could be a hint to Post Medieval times. This complex of two houses seems to be contemporary. The blackhouse was used to live in, while the smaller house was used as a storage room.
