Full Description

E 409:
This blackhouse is situated on a faint slope directly west of the modern road (from Balla to Acairseid). The stream Abhainn nam Pairceanan is located 30 metres to the west. The house stands inside a fenced area, which is now used for sheep grazing. The house measures 9.7 x 6.5 metres and is orientated from north to south. The walls stand up to 1.1 metres high and are partly grown over. An entrance is visible in the centre of the western long wall.
Interpretation: This house was probably built in Medieval or Post Medieval times. It is a very small blackhouse compared with the other blackhouses seen so far during this survey.
