Full Description

E 438:
This enclosure is situated on the western foot of Ben Scrien. It measures 4 x 9 metres, the short walls stand 70 cm high, while the long walls are provided by natural stone outcrops. The enclosure stretches over a very small valley. The dyke E 437 is located just 5 metres to the north. From the place the enclosure stands one can see Acairseid Mhor and Loch Crakavaig to the south, the village Balla and the western side of Eriskay to the west and across to the Sound of Eriskay and South Uist to the north.
Interpretation: The enclosure was probably used along with the dyke E 437 for stock management.
