Full Description
The course of a drove road is partially indicated on the first edition OS map as running east from Ben Scolpaig, along the southern shore of Loch Olabhat, to the Callernish road. An eastward continuation of the drove road, generally 3m wide, can be traced on the ground following the same general alignment, although locally sinuous due to the nature of the topography. The track appears as a terraceway when following hillsides, and as a hollow-way when on level ground and descents, with a depth of up to 1m. this hollowing effect is accentuated at the eastern end of the alignment due to the use of the feature as a water course, which has eroded all vegetation from the trackway. No traces of any built surface are visible in such areas unlike W of the Callernish road where paving can be traced at certain locations.
