Full Description

On the headland, we excavated the remains of a roughly-built stone bank which enclosed an area about 8m diameter. It was associated with a trodden peat surface from which we recovered a small quantity of flint flakes and one small blade; there was no handmade pottery from the site. It is possible that this site belongs in the neolithic era, but a somewhat similar site excavated on the south coast of the Tangaval peninsula suggest it may belong in the earlier first millennium BC.
