Full Description

28: Heishival Beag (VN146)
Three earth- and stone-walled circular huts with diameters of 3m, 3m and 4m. They are heavily embedded and it is possible htat they are pre-modern huts rather than recent shelters, but their small size withinteriors only 1.8 - 2.6m dia, suggests they were not permanent occupation sites.
Brannigan & Grattan 1998, 39

VN146 (NL643947*) A complex of three circular huts. A diam. C. 3 m with door to south walls at least two courses high; B diam. C. 4 m, foundations only and heavily grassed over; C diam. C. 3m, foundations only, heavily grassed over. Possibly prehistoric to judge from embedding but could be post-mediaeval shelters.
Brannigan and Foster 2000, 47
*This grid reference is a misprint which puts the site in the sea. It has been wrongly rounded from the grid reference in the Coastal Assessment of NL64179575. At six figures this should be NL642958. RCB 18/04/03
