Full Description

SY21 (NL63259180) Shieling complex (enclosure and shelters).
Location: Valley floor.
Description: Ovoid enclosure of single stone settings with three shelters or animal perns attached. This is typical of the type of site that we often classify as a sheiling, but the structures are little more than shelters (B, C and D) with associated enclosures and pens formed of single stone settings (A). These are presumably stones put along the bottom of a wire fence to stop the livestock from pushing underneath the bottom wire.
