Full Description
S59 (NL689984) Strongly built stone rectangular structure 4 m square, with additional room 4 x 1.8 m at the west end. The door is in the east end and there appears to be a bench-like feature 0.6 m wide running along the inside of the south wall. The north wall of the building utilizes the line of an earlier boundary wall. At this point, for a distance of about 15 m, the boundary wall retains its stone, but beyond this in both directions there is only a low earth hump to mark its line. Presumably the building (a bothy?), was built after the wall had gone out of use and utilized its stone. To north of the old boundary wall a raised semicircular area with stone blocks beneath the turf might mark the position of an earlier circular hut of about 4 m diameter.
