Full Description

B39 (NF684009) A fallen standing stone almost on the saddle at Beul a Bhealaich (the Pass of the Mouth). The stone was noted by Thom, who recorded it as 16 ft long. In fact, when we cleared the stone to its full extent, it was found to be 5.8 m long, and 1 m wide. Its tip appears to have been deliberately narrowed, since the edges of the stone are slightly 'scalloped', perhaps caused by dropping large stones on to the edge of the monolith at this end. When erect it would certainly have been an eye-catching feature at the head of the valley.
