Full Description
MY388: Blackhouse. Lower coastal bench. My 388 is opposite John Sinclairs's house (MY80) on the road from the village to the landing place at Aneir. The close proximity albeit on opposite sides of the road, of the two properties makes it difficult to determine whether this is a separate small blackhouse or a drying kiln house belonging to Sinclair. The building is a double cell, 9.5 x 5.5m, subrectangular traditional construction with no apparent window openings and a single entrance to the north. Internally there is a dividing wall making two rooms and in the west room a round-backed fireplace is built into the gable wall.
