Full Description
BY2: Chamber tomb. Rocky prominence at bottom of coastal hill-slope. BY2 is built low down on the north coast, just 5m above the foreshore, to the west of the settlement area. The structure is composed of two massive stone slabs, one 1.4m long and 1m high, and the other 1.7m long and 0.8m high, placed parallel to each other on a low mound with their axis east-west. There is some smaller stone between them partially blocking the east end and also around them and a large irregular-shaped flat slab, 1 x 1.4m, lying to one side to the north, which could either be another side stone or a cap stone. From the east the site is prominent against the low skyline. Other stones on the approaches from the east and more so from the west suggest some remnant of a 'processional way' originally leading to the monument, but this is not certain. Damaged by burrowing and sheep scraping.
