Full Description

This site was described by Mr J. Stevenson Mair, who visited it in 1947 or 1948 with his father and uncle. They were shown by Erskine Beveridge 'two Viking graves which he uncovered in the white sand with his hands two skeletons with their swords by there sides (sic)' .
'To get to them he took us down to the shore slightly left from Vallay House to the south of the island. The graves were at the hieght (sic) of the shore where sand stopped and Bent Grass started.'
Mr Stevenson Mair marked the location on a plan.
