Full Description

C17 (NF676026) A complex group of up to nine oblong structures of varying size and shape. Some appear to be in a demolished state when others were built. Buildings A-D are conjoined and may originally have been two buildings, A and C, set at right angles to each other. B appears to have been built to join A nd C together, and D was perhaps built onto the rear of C. East of this group stands the latest building, E, which, to judge from the degree of survival, appears broadly contemporary to A-D. A small outlying building to the north, G also appears to belong with A-D. In front of E there are traces of a demolished earlier building, F and in front of A-C a second apparently earlier structure. Finally, to the north are the remains of another demolished building, I. Main measurements are as follows: A 9.2 x 5.4 m; B 6 x 5.4 m; c 10 x 5.4 m, D 8.5 x 5.4 m; E 11.1 x 5.8 m; F 6.5 x 5 m, G4 x 2.5 m. H 4 x 4 m; I 5 x 3.5 m (F, H, I are minimal, survivng measurements). A E and probably C are blackhouses, B D and G are outbuilidngs. The original form and purpose of F H and I cannot be identified from the surviving fragments.
