Full Description
C35 (NF665031) Oblong building with an apparently compex history. Overall the structure measures 19.1 x 6.7 m, but examination of the visible foundations suggests that it may originally have been 12 x 6.7 m, with a door in the middle of the south-west wall. It may then have been extended, with the demolition of the north-west wall, the extension wall footings being narrower than those of the original building. A door was created in the north-east wall at the junction of the original wall and the extension. There is no trace of an internal partition between the original room and the extension. The house stands in a walled enclosure, in the corner of which are traces of an inner enclosure marked out by a stone alignment. Against the west side of the large enclosure is a raised semicircular platform 6 x 3.2 m. There is a small clearance cairn close to the house. Blackhouse, pen and rick stand?
