Full Description

C43 (NF664026) Oval grassed-over mound 11.5 x 10 m, with complex remains of several successive stone structures. The latest appear to be two subrectangular structures 1.6 m and 1.8 m square respectively. The larger survives three courses (0.8 m) high in one place. Lower on the slope and apparently earlier, are less clearly defined traces of two small circular structures about 1.5 m internal diameter. All of these appear later than a very heavily embedded and robbed oval structure, approx. 9.5 x 8 m, surviving only on the south side. Prehistoric house, overlain by mediaeval/ early modern shieling huts?
