Full Description

VN25 (NL627972) Heavily embedded and incomplete oval stone structure 9 x 7.5 m internally, with wall 1.9 m wide; overall dimensions 13.8 x 11.3 m. The largest blocks of stone in situ measure between 1.5 and 2 m in length. On the west side there is a pile of discarded or unused blocks that included further stone of similar size. Nowhere is the structure above foundation level, and even this is only well preserved in the south-west quadrant. This is clearly the remains of a monumental structure of considerable interest and we discuss it further in Chapter 10 (Fig 1-.8). We identify this structure as an unfinished 'broch'.
