Full Description

a substantial shieling measuring c. 7m by 5m on its outside, with 1m thick walls, is roughly rectangular aside from the semi-circular shaped southern wall. The wall here is constructed of very large stones of up to 2m in any one dimension, some of them slabs stood on their sides. An entrance pierces the northern wall, slightly east of centre. The walls remain standing to a height of 0.8-1m on all sides.
Inside these walls, tumbled block work obscures any internal features. A small circular structure to the south end of the shieling … is clearly secondary to the main, original structure and constructed from its tumbled walls. It has a diameter of 1.2m and stands to only two or three courses.
