Full Description

"Located on the east side of the summit of Cleit Ard this possible burial cairn measures 10 metres from north to south and 7 metres from east to west. This includes a wide spread of tumbled stones, with the core of the cairn measuring ca 4 metres in diameter and a possible kerb which may be identified around this radius. Much of the west side of the cairn has suffered erosion to the point where the regolith and till are visible through the thin peat soil at ground level. The commanding location of this site gives it a view to the stone settings at Cnoc nan Clach (5.1 and 5.2) and across the kerbed cairn on the lower slopes of Cleit Ard (5.9)." Part of a ritual landscape. "Including the stone circle and setting on Cnoc nan Clach and the standing stone at Sildonis (NB21NE04) this landscape seems to dominate the slopes above the south-western end of the sea loch - Loch Erisort. Other elements might include the spring or well (5.4) located in the valley immediately to the west of Cnoc nan Clach and the chambered cairn located ca 1000 metres to the south of the burn that runs past its west side (5.5)." (Burgess 2004, 33 and 21)
