Full Description
"Situated within the crofts on the north shore of Loch Seaforth Head, on the southern slopes of Beinn Lobheir and Sideval, the remains of this field system stretch from NB 28380 16560 in the east to NB 27710 17710 in the west. Most of the lazybeds within its extent are formed in the sinuous feannagan style, suggesting a date of pre-crofting origin. Some, however, are of the square cut broad style that is synonymous with later crofting cultivation on the island. This mixture of styles of cultivation suggests that the field system was formed either at the time of enclosure, or dates to before enclosure and continued in use after the croft allotments were drawn up. The northern boundary of this field system is formed by a stone and turf dyke which runs from west to east just below the crest of the coll between Sideval and Beinn Lobheir (26.1)."
