Full Description
"Located on the shore of Eilean Chalium Cille, 15 metres to the south of the Chapel of St Columba (15.3), the remains of this jetty run from the shore in an easterly direction for 30 metres between the high and low water marks. Measuring 2 metres in width and standing to a maximum height of 1 metre this drystone construction is known locally to have been built to aid the landing of coffins for burial in the mausoleums (15.2, 15.5, 15.6) and graveyard (15.4) that surround the chapel. This structure in its present form is likely to date to the crofting or pre-crofting period, however, the possibility that it has been built on the site of, or the foundations of, an earlier structure cannot be ignored." (Burgess 2004, 91)
