Full Description

"Situated at the foot of a west facing rock outcrop to the west of Loch Beiste, above the western crofts of Cromore, the remains of this shelter take the form of a curving drystone wall built between several natural boulders. It measures 2 metres from north to south, projecting to the west from the rock face for 1.5 metres and with an entrance on the south side. The remains are not substantial enough to have ever supported a roof, but they probably acted as a temporary day shelter used during the shepherding process for summer grazing occuring close to a 'primary settlement' - either the crofting township or a pre-crofting baile in the immediate vicinity." (Burgess 2004, 147)
