Full Description
"Situated at the foot of the northern slope of Sorval, on a small headland that runs into the southern side of Camas Thormaid, the remains of this feature measure 2 metres in diameter and are situated right against the eroding edge of the shore. Formed by a ring of regularly sized cobbles the north-eastern side of the kerb has been lost to the action of marine erosion. Inside the ring of stones there appears to be a small mound, though this has been eroded by wave and wind and may be formed entirely of peat. This feature may represent localised kelp burning, and certainly it is located in an area where the seaweed is readily available right next to the shore. However, the size and regularity of the kerb mean that the possibility that this is the remains of an early prehistoric cairn should also be considered." (Burgess 2004, 152-153)
